Snow Day

When we lived on the east coast, one of my fondest memories was waking up, getting ready for school and having my mom come into my bedroom and say "go back to bed, its a snow day." Those words were heaven and meant that the rest of the day (instead of school) would be spent sleeping, sipping hot cocoa, playing in the snow with my brothers and watching movies. It was simple, uncomplicated and pure relaxation. So after we learned that snow could get school cancelled, we weren't shy to pray to heavenly father for snow every night  in our family prayers.

Well, Today was a snow day for a few lucky high schools and even colleges here. And even though i technically did not have school today, I soaked up every second of the white, peaceful fluff. I Sat by the fireplace, read, and watched it fall. It even made reading a textbook seem slightly more enjoyable...

Oh, and Cory got to help my Daddio Shovel!. First time ever shoveling for this boy and it looks like he kind of loves it, right? ;)

^^^ I love him so much i could just die...
 and that snow.

Oh Christmas Tree, don't be like that.

photo

Can't believe December is only a few days away! Where does the time go? Well ever since "amen" of thanksgiving dinner I've been a little too excited for Christmas. So Cory and I went Christmas tree shopping for our very first Christmas tree {Last year we were kinda lame} and came home with this cute little 7 footer. Only thing is... See something wrong with this picture???? See it? YA. Middle-ish right hand side of the tree is out. A whole CHUNK of darkness. Soooo.. call me grinch, but were taking all our hard word down to put it back in the box and return it. Boo!!!!!

winter weather

Winter has officially hit Utah and i could not be more excited! I love this time of year and there is nothing  that can put me in the mood for the holidays like a good snow storm. It also seems like the time of year i realize i need some new boots. A nice coat and the perfect pair of boots are an everyday wear when you're trying to stay warm and dry. Here are a few of my cravings for winter.

Hi.

This little beaut is the newest addition to our family. Her name is LulaBell. She is 3 months old, going on 18. I have been gawking at little shihpoos {Shitzu-poodle mix} for a while now and trying to convince my husband that we needed one. I don't know how i did it, but he gave in and we found this little bundle of joy. I don't know what happened, but she's got him wrapped around her little finger. He's pretty in love with her and she's pretty in love with him as well. So i guess i did pretty good, however i never would have imagined how much work one little puppy could be. I feel like i have a newborn baby that i can't take my eyes off of or leave alone. She's getting the hang of potty training but there's a few things we still need to work on. For some reason the word "Come" to her means, "sprint away as fast as I can, preferrably into sprinklers where i know mom won't come get me." She is a little handful and she definately has some mischevious attitude, but i like to think she's making me a little more patient one, day, at a time. Crossing my fingers she grows out of it.

NYC

Summer has come and gone, and like every year i don't know how it went by so fast. It never seems to be long enough and i think I'll probably feel that way forever. Cory and I headed to New England with my family a few weeks ago. It was not a "relaxing" vacation per-say. It was more of a tired feet, smelly clothes, caffeine and a lot of crowded subways, kind of vacation. There is never a dull moment in the city, and that is exactly why i think I'm smitten by it. I've always considered myself a city girl and even though I've never lived in any huge cities, I always have had a love and weird satisfaction that comes from being in a big city of any kind. We started our trip in Connecticut for a day to visit old friends, reminisce, see our old home etc.  The day after we headed to NYC and spent a week and then ended our trip with a week in Boston. We loved going to the Red Sox games, touring fenway stadium and of course indulging in a monster dog. Boston has so much history and nostalgia that it makes every part of that city unique and quaint. In New York we were able to go to a Patriots Football game which all the boys {like died and went to heaven} loved. And all the other days were filled with walking, sight seeing, shopping and more walking. You know, like when your feet can hurt to the point where you think they'll never be the same again. That kind of walking. Mostly because i refuse to wear tennis shoes. I can't. I won't.
